ABOUT THE HOST RACE CITY

The Alvor is home to one of Portimão’s most beautiful beaches. Prainha – To the eastern end of Três Irmãos Beach, deeply sculpted cliffs rise up out of the sands, with rocky outcrops extending into the sea, is the host venue for the swim, and within walking distance to the host hotel & resort and TRITON Race Village, at host hotel: Pestana Blue Alvor.

The origins of the picturesque Alvor fishing village date back to the times of the Moors when it was an important port.

About 15 km from the host hotel / race Village is the famous Portimão Racetrack, the start and finish of the bike leg venue. You can ride your bike to the start or drive as there is plenty of parking options in the premises.

Lastly but not least, the run venue. The start and finish are about 5 km from the host hotel / race Village at the beautiful Portimão Marina and the famous Praia da Rocha, both part of the course. You will start, run and finish next to the sea and over the cliffs on an epic run course. 

THE WEATHER

300 days of sun per year. The Algarve has around 3000 hours of sun per year and over 300 days of sun per year. This makes it one of the sunniest regions in Europe.

Differences within the Algarve. The climate in the Algarve is a bit drier than in other parts of Portugal. In the interior of the Algarve, it can be really hot and dry, due to the absence of wind from the sea. The east of the Algarve is usually a bit hotter and drier than the west of the Algarve, because of the influence of the Atlantic Ocean in the west.

Rainfall. In general, it rains very little in the Algarve. Most of the rain falls in the period from November until the end of March. The summer is usually quite dry. In the winter it rarely gets below 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) and it rarely snows.

Seawater temperatures. The seawater is around 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) in summer and 16 degrees Celsius (61 degrees Fahrenheit) in winter.
